H.R. 2766: Floor Vote Still Unscheduled
The Special District Fairness Act, which would establish federal matching funds for district sponsorship programs, passed the House Oversight and Accountability Committee 32–8 in a bipartisan vote covered in Issue 4. No floor time has been scheduled since. For any district building a 2027 budget on the assumption of federal financial-assistance recognition, the bill remains, for now, a possibility rather than a plan.
Watch: The September legislative calendar. If no floor vote materializes before the October recess, the bill is functionally a 2027 question regardless of its committee-stage momentum.
