Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of SSA #26, must submit its renewal application by June 10 and a second round of PIN signatures, 10% of parcels, by August 1, 2026, with final City Council approval expected this fall for a January 1, 2027 renewal. The chamber's own public messaging is blunt: miss the signature threshold, and every SSA #26 service, trash and litter removal, community programming, holiday decor, sidewalk snow removal, simply expires at the end of 2026 with no service gap workaround like Columbus ran in Issue 4. Named, dated, and consequential, this is a specific test case for the roughly 58 active Chicago SSAs facing the same 2027 renewal mechanics this fall.
