Cook County: Commercial Appeal Windows Rolling Through Summer
Carried forward from Issue 4: Cook County's township-by-township commercial property tax appeal windows continue rolling through the summer. For owners inside districts where TIF capture is calculated off pre-correction assessed values, the appeal window remains the primary mechanism available to adjust the base, which flows directly into how much increment those districts can actually capture.
Watch: Whether any large-scale commercial appeal challenges emerge in the TIF-dense Loop or Near North areas, now with the added variable of Chicago's proposed $425 million capture commitment at The 78 (RW-F-4) sitting in the same downtown TIF ecosystem.
