Wichita: Council Approves a CID for a Single Restaurant
Wichita City Council approved a Community Improvement District supporting Margaritas Cantina, a single-business CID whose add-on sales tax will be paid entirely by that restaurant's own customers to fund its project costs. Kansas's CID statute permits this narrow a scope. The merchant-side question worth watching is what a customer-facing surcharge does to a single operator's competitive pricing relative to the restaurant next door, which isn't inside any district and charges the standard rate.
Watch: The specific CID sales tax rate approved and any signage or disclosure requirements attached to it for customers.
